To provide a structured program that is dedicated to the care, education, and development of St. Brigid School students during after school hours. Our goal is to provide a positive, safe, and nurturing environment that includes a snack,
time to work on homework, options to learn new skills, opportunities to make new friends and have fun.
Before and aftercare is provided to St. Brigid students daily throughout the school year. Before and aftercare is not available when school is not in session. Aftercare is not available on half days that preceed a holiday weekend or school vacation week. We require families who need regular care to secure a full-time or part-time slot by August 2 or until filled.
If per diem, sporadic, or emergent aftercare is needed, parents may sign up through SignUp.com in advance. Note, per diem care has a maximum number of 10 spaces each day and begins September 3, 2024. Availability is on a first come, first served basis.
All students not picked up promptly by regular dismissal time will be signed in to aftercare, and the hourly rate will be charged.
Parents must call or text the aftercare phone line when picking up, indicating student's departure. Parents must come to the doors of the main building and check students out with aftercare staff. If students are outside, please locate the aftercare staff and check students out with the staff on duty.
If you need to reach the Before & After Care Program, please call or text the aftercare phone at: 207-210-5429.
Before Care is located in the school yard between the Father Hayes and the main building. After Care Check-In rooms are located in the main school building. After Care associates provide outside time and inside activities for the students in their care. Please send appropriate clothing and foot wear for all weather conditions.
The strength of our program is in the dedication of our aftercare staff. Staff members have experience working with children and have been cleared of state and federal background checks. Before and Aftercare Staff attended Protecting God’s Children and most have CPR/First Aid Training. All aftercare staff are required to follow the requirements of training and licensing guidelines of the Department of Health and Human Services, under which our program is licensed.
A variety of enrichment activities and clubs are offered in addition to childcare in our afterschool program. Students who are registered for regular full or part time aftercare may participate in enrichment activities. They must sign up seperately, in advance. Students registered for full or part time aftercare may attend some enrichment activities for no additional cost. Please refer to specific program descriptions as they will note fees for both non-aftercare and regular aftercare students. Learn more about the activites under Beyond the Classroom/Activities and Clubs.
St. Brigid School's before and aftercare program falls under our license as a Large Childcare Facility as designated by the Deparment of Health and Human Services. We hold a Quality for Me Certificate and are registered with Maine Roads to Quality. Our program and staff are registered members of these organizations which keep us on a track for continuous improvement.
